South Worcs Lifeguard Teams on way to Nationals


Six teams took part in the RLSS West Midlands National Lifesaving Championships Regional Heats at Droitwich leisure centre. The competition consists of four elements to test the skill of the competitors in a team scenario covering the pool and first aid - life support initiative test; aquatic initiative test; swim / tow and rope throw.

In the 12-14 year old boys Cameron Leach and Luke Betteridge were crowned champions while Jacob Hesketh and Jacob Goodall had to contend with a silver medal. Lara Harding and Ellen Forson joined the boys winning the 12-14 year old girls category.

In the girls 15-17 year old category Alice Forson and Lucy Inett were crowned champions in a closely fought battle with the pair Amy Weston and Helena Leach who were awarded a silver medal. The boys 15-17 year old team of Alex Jackson and Luke Smith were narrowly beaten to a silver medal.

The winners will now represent the RLSS West Midlands branch at the National Lifesaving Championships in Leeds in November.
